SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is designed to confirm whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the faking of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this function for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it originates from an official server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet when it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it look as if you're e-mailing spam. This method is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be approved to send email messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution gives you the top standard of security, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are managed in a different place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you are able to protect your emails by enabling the SPF protection service for every domain hosted in your account with just a few mouse-clicks. This is done through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous practical experience with these kinds of things, you won't have any troubles to enable the security. The only things that you will have to do will be to find a domain from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the updated record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be delivered around the world only if they were sent from that server. If your emails are managed by our company and not by some third-party supplier, you'll also be able to activate an option for email messages to be sent only if the domain name features our MX records and the aforementioned would be the safest option. If you have any kind of questions related to thisfeature, you can get in touch with our support team 24/7.
